Precautions, Interactions and Contraindications

Microgreens are celebrated for their flavor and concentrated nutritional benefits. They are packed full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients. They can be up to 40 times higher in nutrients than a mature plant. They can support overall health, potentially aiding in glucose regulation, improved cognitive function, immune support and heart health to name some benefits.

However, it is important to remember that these powerful greens are considered a nutraceutical. A nutraceutical means they can have medical effects to the human body. As such, we should treat them as we would any other medication since they can have some unwanted side effects and precautions. While most companies will not tell you about potential side effects with supplements, we want to be completely transparent in our products to ensure your safety. Your health and well-being are our greatest priority. Any supplement that does not do this should be taken into consideration and re-evaluated.

If you are taking specific medications or being treated for certain health conditions, we highly recommend you consult with your doctor prior to taking any extra medications or supplements. As healthcare workers ourselves, we always appreciate patients getting us in the boat prior to making any changes that could affect their health.

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed on our package, consumption of our product is not recommended. In general, most microgreens contain oxalates. Oxalates, sometimes called oxalic acid, are naturally occurring in plant-based foods. They are harmless for most people. Oxalates can bind to the calcium found in urine and form calcium oxalate crystals which can turn into kidney stones. If you have a history of kidney stones, consume microgreens in moderation to see how you tolerate them. Oxalates can also cause some digestive discomfort so use moderately if you have sensitive digestive systems or inflammatory bowel disease. If you have concerns, please contact your physician prior to starting them.
